"Someday, love will find me... in the rough"

That song has been stuck in my head. (Sarah knows it!)

Well, everyone seems to be busy right now, so I figured I'd post here

I don't even know what to write. It's been a long time. Well, maybe not. But it feels like it.

SO much school work. And I keep putting it off, and trying to ignore it and hope it goes away. But it doesn't. It just piles and piles and piles until there's so much I want to explode. It's like I'm drowning in a pile of homework. My, wouldn't that suck.

Eh, not that my life has been all crappy lately. I mean, I should be so happy. I have a boyfriend now, for all of you who are out of the know (Mike), and as any of my friends can confirm, I've been happy for weeks. ("She shouldn't be allowed to be that happy!"). But right now I feel down. Gah. [To clear that up, Mike isn't why I'm feeling down. Mike is what is making me stay sane.]

I have a short week this week, as I'm going to Acquire the Fire (ATF) with metYOUTH, the youth group I go to on wednesdays. I'm feeling slightly wary since I don't know many people there, and the place is pretty clique-y. I hope I'll meet people and hang out with them, but I'm not so confident about that right now.

Anyway, because of ATF, I'm gone from fri at 8am until Sun at 8pm. AND I have a big presentation in English on Monday. I'm in a group with all the little Asian girls (yes, somewhat racist, I realize, but also acurate. Plus I mean it in an endearing way). I'm so glad for them; I don't know what I'd do if I weren't in their group. I feel like maybe I'm freeloading a bit, but I'm contributing, so I hope it's ok.

Anyway... I'm not sure who exactly reads this blog still, so... post a comment and let me know.

"Quiet voices today, girls"

I had an awesome day today! {if you don't want to hear ALL about it, skip to the recap at the bottom}

I got up at 6:30am (yes, on a Saturday), and went to huntleigh (the barn where I ride for all you who need a refresher) with Avery. I mucked for a while (strained my back again, I think), then had my lesson which was AWESOME! I rode Vito, and we jumped again, FINALLY, and it was really good.

The kids I help tack up were ready ON TIME today (except for the one who showd up 4 minutes before the lesson, but you know, it was ok). Mini camp was great fun with Amy Pearson, and a kid (older kid, like grade 5ish) told me "If you were an an instructor here, you'd be the best one." AWWW, right? Also, there was much drama going on in the gossip mill of the Huntleigh girls, which makes for a fun day.

Best part of the day: after my lesson, my intructor, Gill, came over me to me. Here is the convo:
Gill: Evie what are your plans for riding for next year?
Me: Uhhhhh...
Gill: Just pleasure riding?
Me: uhh... yeeeesss...?
Gill: Were you thinking about riding competitively?
Me: uhh...
Gill: because that would be an option for you.
Me: It'd take some convincing of my mom...
*I leave the arena and tell Avery whilst jumping up and down in the barn aisle*

Also, I told my mom and she isn't against me showing next year!!!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

RECAP: Helping the little kids is going well, my lesson was awesome because I'm jumping again, and I might get to show next year. SQUEEE!

Currently: I'm sitting at my comp, waiting to see if the boys will show. Mike is having his bday party, and they will be heading to the park at some point, and possibly stop by my house and I will go with. w00t! Fun times!

Colin: Nanos suck | Me: Colin, Davis got a Nano | Colin: OMG! Davis! Show me!

Man, I hate going back to school after long weekends.

My day was so crazy. I went for a walk with Lucy yesterday since she was in town, and she said something about high school being peaks and valleys. I definitely thought she was right; that was my day.

Valley: I got to school, and realized I was completely screwed, not having done most of my homework for the weekend. I was feeling pretty anxious when I went to History first period, I was somewhat worried.

Rising: But then, all we did was write a quiz (I got to skip it since it was about homework I missed while being at camp) and watched a movie about the 20s.

Peak: I get to science, and my fellow leadership campers aren’t done the lab report either, so I was feeling better. Yes, we were assigned about a million chem. review questions that are due for two days from now, but I have to do them all tonight, but I was feeling pretty confident.

Still at a peak: Lunch was awesome. I played cards for a while with Adam and Ave, and then went into the stairway, all the way up to the fourth floor. Mike, Nick and Alex were working on a project about Wuthering Heights up there, and I decided to go and visit them. I stayed there for the rest of lunch, enduring the witty comments (nice Nick, Alex). But I was perfectly happy where I was.

heading down: So happy, in fact that I missed that Ave told me the bell rang, and I ended up missing the French bus for the field trip. Yeah. So I did the tour in English.

valley: I went to my locker to get my stuff (my mom drove me back to school) and Mr. Hodgson grabs me and makes me take the quiz on chapters 22-26 which yeah, I hadn’t read yet, due to the fact that I wasn’t going to be in class. So I failed the quiz, all the way trying to explain to Mr. Hodgson my busy weekend, and my other projects I had to do while Avery decided to tease me about Mike and totally undermine my in front of Mr. Hodgson (nice Ave.) But I won’t dwell there; I won’t flame Avery online.

Still valley: I have SO MUCH homework. Fun, yes?

Approaching rising: no commitments before school or during lunch tomorrow, so it’ll be a good day! … if I finish this homework :P

I am... the Luckiest

I really really am.

Ever since right after the Cantebury dance, I've been floating. No, drugs are not involved :P. Everything has been awesome since then.

Party at Leaky's on saturday -- so much fun! Saw my friends, ate cake, listened to Ben Folds and lay around on the floor. Watched McC go emo kid and pull on his hair. I also enjoyed being the center of the party gossip. I love that :D.

I am also now addicted to Ben Folds. Yes, I really am. I buy myslef three songs a night, so I can savour it. I am also currently downloading about a million of Mike's CDs to my iTunes.

Who is Mike you may ask? Mike would be my date to the dance on friday. More to follow. *innocent smile*

In other news: I am the only grade 10 who has been accepted to staff at Leadership Camp! I'm so excited to go. It's even better as staff I hear. Oh and to clarify, my official title is "Galley Wench". They called them kitchen wenches last year, but this year Leadership Camp has a pirate theme. *Braces self for wench jokes*. Well, go ahead, post them in the comments.Aw... sad thought. I won't get a booklet this year! Too bad. I won't need it, stuck in teh kitchen as I will be all camp. Well, at least I'm going. Keltie was a wench last year, and said it was awesome. She told me that the best advice she can give me is "If Mr Hum wants to add something to the soup, let him." :P The teachers all hang out in the kitchen the whole time, so I should have fun getting to know Mr Hum.

25 years after death, Terry's still going strong

So, tomorrow, I get to spend half of my day at parliament hill with the rest of my school, walking 5km. Why you might ask? For Terry Fox.

If you don't know Terry Fox check out the full bio on wiki, or read my condensed version:

Terry Fox is a hero and legend in Canada. He had cancer, so they amputated his leg. He then attempted to run across the country to raise awareness about cancer. He was amazing. He started by dipping his prothetic leg in the Atlantic and then started his "Marathon of Hope". Not many people knew about him until he hit Ontario, and suddenly the entire country was behind him. People would line the streets to see him, especially others with cancer. He was such an amazing man. He was in his 20s.

Unfortunately, once he got to Thunder Bay (a city on Lake Superior), Terry found out that the cancer was back, this time in his lungs. He had to stop his run, and died soon after.

Every year, in Canada, we have the Terry Fox Run, to raise money for cancer research. This year is the 25th anniversary if Terry's run. So, some people got together and decided that it would be good if every school in Canada had a run in honour of Terry Fox. SO that's what happenning.

There's a few highy publicised ones, including one on Parliament Hill, where we'll be tomorrow, along with smaller delegations from other schools from the area. A lot of people are skipping the marathon, but I don't get that. To all of you who are doing that: Sure, it might not be your first choice to spend a large chunk of your day walking around a course on Parliament Hill, but you know what? It's a good cause. And for one day, it's not about you. Not at all. I for one, will be out there with a smile.
